Fees

Each record has one fee, which the applicant pays when the application is submitted. Nothing is added to it later, and the other spouse, the wali and the witnesses pay nothing.

RecordFeeWho else signs, at no cost
Divorce$200The other spouse and two witnesses
Conversion$50Two witnesses
Marriage$150The other spouse, the wali and two witnesses

The fee pays for the review of the application by two reviewers, the identity check of everyone who signs, and the certificate with its entry in the register.

Where the fee goes

Stripe takes its card fee from each payment and charges the Bureau $1.50 for every identity check on the case. What is left is shared between the two reviewers who check and sign the record, one from the Bureau and one from outside it, who receive 35% each, and the Bureau, which keeps 30% to run the register and the site.

If you cannot pay

No one is turned away because they cannot pay. On the last step of the application, open Cannot pay the fee?, say briefly why, and submit without paying. A reviewer decides on the waiver before the review begins and writes to you with the decision, and a case whose fee is waived is reviewed in the same way as any other.

Waived fees are covered by gifts that other applicants choose to add when they pay. A gift is added only when the applicant chooses one, and it is used for nothing else.

Refunds

The fee is refunded in full when the Bureau cannot take the case because it falls outside the service, for example when one spouse will not take part, and when the applicant withdraws the application before a reviewer has begun the review. Once a certificate has been issued the fee is not refunded, because the service has been completed.

When a case stops after the review has begun, for example because a signer declines, the Bureau decides any refund according to the work already done and confirms the decision to the applicant in writing.

How to ask for a refund
